Lior Pinsky

Lior Pinsky is a creator of experimental electronic music, ambient, field recordings, and collages. He creates music for stage productions and installations, and deals with electronic mechanisms.

This course is designed to provide basic skills in recording and editing sound alongside experimentation with compositions using recorded materials. The central software we will work with is Ableton Live, which allows us flexible and creative access to sound editing and processing. The course will begin with drawing a sine wave on the board, next to the question “What is a sound wave?”, and it will end with the students’ audio creations. In between, we will learn about the fundamentals of digital audio and become acquainted with the digital version of central devices in sound processing. We will look at the history of sound-based music and think about the theory behind such compositions.
