Unapologetic

A bold, unapologetic performance work that humorously delves into the personal reality of Atheer as a Palestinian woman in Israel. It weaves together texts, images, songs, and dances from diverse cultural realms that constitute her identity, all organized into a “Hafla-musical”, as she defines it. Through absurd situations, self-deprecating humor, mockery of reality, and the presence of multiple identities, she attempts to challenge social and national conventions.

“’Unapologetic’ takes place in a parallel time and space where death and occupation do not exist, while the imminent danger of collision with reality looms overhead. It raises questions about freedom and liberty — how does a liberated body and a free voice behave compared to those under occupation or confinement? What is resistance, and how does one live in a utopian world where resistance is unnecessary? Dealing with personal and collective loss, the harsh and painful reality, and my encounters with Israelis, all drive me to explore my political identity while simultaneously celebrating life.”
