STILL STAR
STILL STAR
A performance-installation work spanning a room inhabited by the body of a faded star.
The figure of Elvis – mythical, familiar, echoing through endless reproductions – becomes a self-portrait. At the same time, this portrait gazes back at itself, multiplied and worn out.
Several Elvises share the stage.Elusive reflections of a single image.
When the doors open and light seeps in, the star stands up and performs, despite everything, worn but radiant.
An imitation of an imitation of an imitation, like a record played to exhaustion, reveals the gap between icon and man, between glory and fracture, between the desire to appear – and the need to disappear.
