On the Threshold

A collective performative exhibition that lingers on the threshold.

The participating young artists belong to a generation whose activity is repeatedly interrupted, delayed, or deferred by pandemic and war. It is a generation that continually questions its capacity to act in the world, the significance of its actions, and the distance between representation and action that brings about real change. Often described as hesitant, this is a generation for which even Nike imagined a more fitting slogan than its famous Just Do It: ״Why Do It?״

A group of gen-Z artists was invited to create a performative exhibition, an event featuring works and actions across a range of media and formats. Together, they operate like a gang that seeks to break through the door and enter the art world, yet for now remain just outside it: suspended, uncertain, on the threshold.

The exhibition-performance unfolds in the public square between the School of Visual Theatre, Nissan Nativ Acting Studio and Sam Spiegel Film School. The audience faces the building’s façade, observing it from the outside. Here, the Living Gallery is positioned as an object, an altar upon which the gang performs its ritual of worship, rage, and prayer.
