The Boycottables: Eternal Forms, Local Troubles

The Living Gallery lends a hand to the Diver Festival and serves as its temporary home in the capital. The festival will open with three evenings in which dance enters the gallery, is placed within it as a moving sculpture, and sets the gaze in motion.

The Boycottables are artists who understand the condition of the boycott as a possibility and a means for agency. Their exclusion from the art world has created for them a new kind of agency. Freed from the need to belong and to act within the matrix of identities, institution, morality – they operate in the realm of imagination.

The Living Gallery hosts the festival for two evenings, curated by Ido Feder, in which old and new dance works are placed within its space.

On the first evening, Eternal Forms will gather in the gallery space: dances from the first suite by Noa Eshkol; manifestos by contemporary artists conducted by Ido Feder; and movements of praying bodies in the work of Inbal Hacker.

On the second and third evenings, Local Troubles will live in the gallery: three dance works by choreographers who contemplate a place and its troubles, and search for tools and movement that will allow them to evade them, or adapt to them. Kerem Shemi awakens a wounded bird painted by her grandfather, the artist Yeheiel Shemi; Shaked Mochiach documents movement in her diary day by day; Gal Levinson returns to the sounds of Brazilian music translated into Israeli folklore.
