Compasses is a live exhibition, an ongoing event that unfolds and fills the schools’ building. Once an hour, the audience is invited to enter the building and wander through its floors, rooms, and halls – for a visit of roaming and discovery.
Methods of measurement and mapping strive to understand the world, to articulate its fundamental laws. They look at the sum of the world, at its totality. In this exhibition, we treat the School building as a whole; as a cosmos. Within it, we have placed works by artists, inviting them to contribute a singular unit from the entirety of their artistic practice.
It is a world in perpetual transformation, composed of visual and performative images that, in order to be experienced, require one to get lost, to search, open a door, ask a question. In Compasses, the audience is invited into the open building and its inner currents, to walk and wander among images and works, each pointing, in its own way, toward the North.
