Typing…
Typing…
An evening featuring two new works of dance and sculpture.
In Typing…, the WhatsApp relationship between siblings Iyar and Adam Elezrah comes to life on stage. Ups and downs, dramas, love, anger, day-to-day routine, updates, scheduling, typos and emojis. Their private WhatsApp chats become material: Adam translates images from the world of text and typography into physical objects, while Iyar transforms them into movement. Together, they create a shared language that reveals the subtext in their dialogue.
I Put an Eye on You is a dance work originally created as part of an exhibition in a water tower. The file folder – the exhibition’s main character – is an object caught between life and death, between page and book. Slugs and two dancers perform a duet upon it, animating the space into passion, order, and neglect. A duet, perhaps, between the Snake and Eve, man and cat, order and chaos.
Can you pick Mika up from kindergarten?
What’s your deal, why can’t you help me?
Iyar I’m busy
I’m not your babysitter or producer
You’ve got no shame
There’s a way to say things
Babysitter? Producer?
You’re disgusting
Forget it, I don’t have the energy
This isn’t acceptable
Don’t call me, don’t talk to me again
I’m done
That’s fine. This isn’t working between us
