Omer Sheizaf
Omer Sheizaf is an artist and lighting designer with a bachelor's degree in Literature and Philosophy from Tel Aviv University and a Master’s degree in art from Bezalel Academy. His works focus on the relationship between the performative and environmental aspects of light in public spaces and on stage, exhibited in various galleries. As an award-winning lighting designer, he has developed a unique language for contemporary dance and theater lighting. Sheizaf has collaborated with numerous creators in Israel and internationally, including Yasmeen Godder, Roy Assaf, Netta Barzilai, Batsheva Dance Company, Sharon Eyal, LA Dance Project (LADP), the Gothenburg Opera, Ballet du Capitole Toulouse, and others.
During the course, we will experiment with and examine the fabric of the environment and the scenographic space. We will look at systems and how they function in performance and installation, uncovering the conditions for generating a sensory experience. Through in-class work and assignments, we will develop multi-media environments and spaces, experimenting with translating a conceptual idea into spatial reality, thereby formulating the scenographic thinking toward our finale.
