Ofeq Shemer

Ofeq Shemer is an independent animator and special effects artist in the film and television industry. A graduate of the Screen Arts Department at Bezalel, he lives and works in Haifa. Together with Ada Rimon, he creates short films that combine analog and digital techniques, with an emphasis on the relationship between sound and image. The films have been presented at festivals and exhibitions in Israel and around the world.

In this course, we will learn to recognize and work with the materials from which films are made. We will play and experiment with various approaches and techniques to reach meaningful sequences. We will watch examples from different genres of cinema, film and record our own raw materials, and use existing raw materials (after all, the world is full of them). The Premiere software that we will learn will serve as a laboratory for exploring the endless possibilities of the cinematic medium. Throughout the course, we will experience how the editing process can surprise us and serve us in finding new ideas.
