Teaches stage technology from the mindset that grasping the technical tools is the basis of creative and artistic freedom.
Technical Study Groups A hands-on course held in small, intimate study groups (up to 4 students), designed to make technical fundamentals accessible in sound, lighting, and projection within a performance space. The course emphasizes personal attention and tailors the learning experience to each participant’s interests, strengths, and creative language.
The course serves as a launching pad for artists to gain technical independence and develop practical skills with systems, gear, and software used in performance and visual theater.
Throughout the course, we will cover the basic setup and operation of sound, lighting, and video systems, signal flow, working with professional equipment, space safety, and stage workflow, consistently bridging technical thinking with the artistic creative process.
The course also prepares participants for the advanced follow-up course, which focuses on developing students’ personal projects and cultivating technical strategies tailored to the unique artistic needs of each work.
