The Act of Performance
Credit points: 3
Elective course fore the 3rd year
In this course, we will delve into the wondrous and wildly untamed act of directing, immersing ourselves in studio practice.
We will examine the relationship between our artistic language and our studio work—how they influence and intertwine with one another to unlock profound artistic possibilities.
We will explore diverse positions of the director: the director as performer, the director working with a cast, and the director in relation to the staged event.
Through these lenses, we will experiment, articulate, and wallow in studio practices oscillating between research and wishful thinking, tenderness and radicalism, accountability and the shedding of responsibility, theft and inspiration, ambition and letting go, imagination and subversion, dread and sheer laziness.
