Iris Erez
Iris Erez is a choreographer, dancer, teacher, and mother of two sons. She is a member of the Choreographers' Association and a partner in the improvisation group Octet. Her works are performed in Israel and around the world. In her works, she seeks to touch on political and public issues through the personal body, exploring the mutual influences between them and the connection between the technological and the physical. Iris teaches technique and improvisation and guides creative processes at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance, as well as in private and international settings.
An improvisation class based on exploring the body as a source of knowledge and a point of departure for generative and improvisational processes. Throughout the course, participants will be invited to deepen their bodily listening, cultivate awareness of movement, sensations, and physical impulses, and use them as raw materials for creation. Through exercises grounded in body, thought, imagination, and play, we will explore varied modes of action, expand the capacity for spontaneous response, and develop an individual movement language. The class cultivates curiosity, presence, creative freedom, and trust in the body as a reservoir of insight, expression, and artistry.
The class involves physical touch and hands-on guidance, and does not include submissions or project assignments.
