Dreaming

Dreaming as a Vital Psychic Movement / Avner Bergstein

Dreaming, as described in psychoanalytic thought, is an open and receptive state of mind enabling the individual to get in touch with psychic reality, a reality that eludes our familiar senses. This psychic reality is often just beyond our awareness, elusive and ineffable; an as yet unformed emotional experience; a thought in search of a thinker to think it; a real and palpable experience, that words may often conceal, disguise, or obscure. In this talk, we will explore the mental states that facilitate dreaming, as well as the psychological barriers that impede it.
