In his solo Bass Clarinet concerts, Yoni is expanding the possible sounds inherent to the instrument, as well as his own physical abilities; in order to excavate,  produce and channel the raw materials of his work: acoustic phenomena hidden in the cracks of the instrument, unexpected interactions between the instrument and the body of the player, Crypto-Zeological emergences; all coming together to form a sound-mass that is alive yet still, multilayered and grimy.

Yoni’s playing techniques draw on his rich experience as an improviser; on the Hyper-Spectral music of the Romanian composers Ana-Maria Avram and Iancu Dumitrescu, with whom he collaborated in the Hyperion Ensemble; on the flora, fauna, the fierce and the flabby. The concert will combine live playing with a projection of a short film, shot on the occasion of an online performance during the Covid-19 lockdown.
