DE STAAT

“De Staat” is a theatrical staging of composer Louis Andriessen’s 1976 piece, itself based on Plato’s Republic. The current adaptation adds further layers to the inter-generational discussion on the technological-political climate of modernity.

The result is saturated fit to burst and creates a disturbing mimesis of culture. From directly addressing the endless passing of image, to the existence of the human body as a systems contradiction, the spectators are invited to take part in the piece as political agents with interpretative power.
