A Drink in America
A Drink in America
How can you tell if a Rolex watch is real? You look at the small knob on the side, the one you use to set the time. If a tiny golden crown logo is etched on the knob, the Rolex is real. To spot a real Rolex you must get very close to it, cup the hand wearing it and hold it gently to your face. Smile, look at the knob, spot the crown.
They ask me where did I get my English from, and I say: From the movies.
–Which movies?
–All the movies, with the girl and the boy and the love and the stories.
Based on a true story. Somewhere between a memory-testimony and a fictional-autobiographical story of my journey in America. Of my great-grandmother in South Amerike.
