Act of Matter
Act of Matter
This work seeks to touch beauty and pain in their abstract form. It is handmade, by my hand. My handprint is important to me and is an essential part of the process. Me and the material, the material and me. I recognize and know what the material is capable of and what it wants, and I set out to test its limits.
Over the course of the year I painted and knitted. These repetitive acts provided a sense of rhythm and silence. From a simple spool of yarn, the thread transformed into a sculpture. The light transforms the material, giving it vitality, changing its shape, enlarging, expanding, and distorting. The light passes through the holes, through what is missing, and creates something from nothing.
