Purple Rain
Purple Rain
Distant echoes of war seep into the stage. Images and shapes are etched in space by metal lines, images burn and fade. Moments of synchronization and synesthesia occur at those points where sound is perceived as material, and action as sound. Three years of living in the shadow of missiles (and one too close of a fall) left remnants and reverberations that became the material substance of the work. “Purple Rain,” borrowing its name from a military warning for a missile attack, is a solo performance in which the body moves between moments from the evolution of violence and activates sonorous mechanisms with its movements — feedback, duplications, and echoes that attempt to rely on a voice that no longer exists and may never have.
